Amendment - Mirrored Fields

Modified on Mon, 22 Sep at 12:50 PM

Learn how to proceed with an amendment of fields, forms and workflows that contain a mirrored fields function.

⚠️  Please note: Amendments can only be implemented in the sandbox environment. Please read the following article first: Sandbox Environment - Updating Active Studies and Surveys

Updates in form setup (step 3) after setting up the mirrored fields function

If you want to update your input fields inside the form setup, you can easily identify fields that are used either as a source or destination field inside a mirroring function:

Source field

Destination field

⚠️ Please be aware of the following system behaviour, when you update your forms or fields in step 3:

  • Update display label of source or destination field —> Will not affect the mirrored field setup

  • Update form name —> Will not affect the mirrored field setup

  • Update of selection options of source field (single choice, dropdown) —> Updates will be reflected in the destination field if respective options are already mirrored

  • Deletion of options in source field (single choice, dropdown) —> Will NOT be reflected in the source field if data was previously already entered. The data will be kept as before deleting the destination field.

  • Deletion of form (source & destination) —> Respective mirrored field will automatically be disabled. If data was previously mirrored to destination field, it will not be removed, but the field will return to become a normal input field. Please note that you delete your destination field, upon deletion of the source field / form.

Further Study Amendments

Trigger Events (Step 5)

  • Updating mirrored field → Existing data remains unchanged and new data will be reflected according to new settings

  • Add / enable mirrored field → Existing data remains unchanged and new data will be reflected according to new settings

  • Deleting mirrored field → Existing data remains unchanged and new data will be reflected according to new settings

  • Disable mirrored field → Existing data remains unchanged and new data will be reflected according to new settings

Field Value Updates (Form fill-out)

  • Tab dependencies (source form is hidden after data change) → For system performance reasons, hidden fields are not taken into account when synching source and destination field, meaning: If the source field is hidden due to a dependency, the destination field will still show the previous filled out or empty value and not update according to the dependency
  • Field dependencies (source form is hidden after data change)→ Existing data remains unchanged and new data will be reflected according to new settings
