How to configure the matrix field?

![]() | To add the matrix input field to your form, click on "New Field" and scroll down to "Table Field" and drag and drop the field into the input form. |
![]() | Click on the input field in the form to open its settings and select "Matrix field (one field per row)" from the table type selection options. |
![]() | To ensure that the matrix field is nicely usable when opened on mobile devices, select the option to show the field as repeating fields instead of a table when the questionnaire is opened on a mobile device. If this box stays unticked, the matrix field will always be shown in table format. |
![]() | You can select between two input field types: Single choice and multiple choice. |
![]() | Next, add the amount of rows required for your matrix field as well as the rows labels. ⚠️ Each row must have a unique label assigned in order to safe your field setup. ⭐ If you want to change the order of your rows, you can simply drag and drop the row to its desired position. |
![]() | By clicking on the "Advanced" settings button, you have the option to: - change the database as well as the export label of a row - add a description text - duplicate the row - mark the row as required / unrequired |

![]() | Add option labels as well as option values to each column. ⚠️ Each column must have a unique label and option value assigned in order to safe your field setup. ⭐ If you want to change the order of your columns, you can simply drag and drop the row to its desired position. |

⚠️ Switching between table types in a study with active entries: Please be aware, that if you switch from the matrix field to a different table type, the data structure is changing, which might affect active study entries. For this reason, we recommend to not switch between table types, but to create a new input field. |
